Dilo Terms of Use
Last updated: 2026-10-27
These terms are the agreement between you and Jetforge Labs OÜ, an Estonian private limited company, registry code 17116764, registered at Tornimäe tn 5, 10145 Tallinn, Harju County, Estonia (“Jetforge”, “we”, “us”). They cover the Dilo app for macOS and the website getdilo.co. By installing or using Dilo you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not install or use Dilo.
1. What Dilo is
Dilo is a macOS menu bar app for dictation, meeting recording and transcription, summaries, and questions over your own notes. By default everything is processed on your Mac, with on-device speech recognition and on-device AI. Dilo works offline and needs no account.
2. Licence
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable-only-for-breach licence to install and use Dilo on Macs you own or control, for your own personal or business use. A Pro licence key can be activated on up to 3 Macs at a time. If you replace a Mac, contact us and we will free up an activation.
You may not: copy or redistribute Dilo or licence keys, sell or sublicense it, reverse engineer it except where the law allows it despite this clause, remove notices, or use it to break the law.
Dilo includes open-source and third-party components, which are licensed under their own terms. See section 14 and the Open-source acknowledgements.
3. Plans and price
- Basic: free, dictation only. We may change what Basic includes in future versions, but a version you have already installed keeps working as it is.
- Pro: one-time payment of 35 EUR, a lifetime licence for all versions of Dilo, plus support. There is no subscription.
“Lifetime” means the life of the Dilo product, not yours or ours: your licence covers every version we release, but it does not oblige us to keep releasing them. If we ever discontinue Dilo, we will give reasonable notice and a final version that keeps working with your licence key as far as technically possible.
Prices may change for new buyers. Your existing Pro licence is not affected.
4. Buying Pro
Pro is sold through Gumroad, which acts as Merchant of Record. Gumroad handles payment, VAT, receipts and licence keys, and its terms apply to the purchase. Dilo checks your licence key with Gumroad’s licence API when you activate it.
5. Refunds and right of withdrawal
Refunds are handled by Gumroad, as Merchant of Record, under Gumroad’s terms and the refund policy shown on the Dilo product page at the time of purchase. To request one, use the link in your Gumroad receipt or contact Gumroad support. If you have trouble, write to us at hello@jetforgelabs.com and we will help.
If you are a consumer in the EU, you may have a legal right to withdraw from a distance contract within 14 days. For digital content delivered immediately, that right can end once delivery starts if you expressly agreed to it and acknowledged the loss of the right at checkout. Nothing in this section reduces your rights under section 11 or any other right the law gives you.
6. Updates
Dilo can check for updates and download them using Sparkle. Updates are signed. We release updates to keep Dilo working, secure and compatible with current versions of macOS, but we are not obliged to keep releasing updates or new versions indefinitely, except for the updates consumer law requires (section 11). You can turn off automatic update checks in Dilo’s settings. Updates may change features. If a change materially affects how you use Dilo and you did not agree to it, you may have rights under section 11.
7. Your content
Your recordings, transcripts, notes and summaries stay on your Mac as files, including Markdown files. They belong to you. Jetforge does not have access to them and does not claim any rights over them. You are responsible for your own backups.
8. Recording other people
You are solely responsible for complying with the laws on recording and transcribing conversations where you and the other participants are. Many countries and regions require consent from some or all participants. Before recording a meeting or call, tell the participants and get any consent the law requires. Jetforge is not responsible for recordings you make without the required consent, and you agree to indemnify us for claims arising from that, to the extent the law allows.
9. Optional cloud AI providers
You can connect your own provider (OpenAI, Anthropic, OpenRouter, or a self-hosted Ollama) using your own API key. If you do, Dilo asks before sending and marks what was sent, and the selected text goes directly from your Mac to that provider. We do not proxy it and cannot see it. The provider’s terms and privacy policy apply, and you are responsible for the provider’s charges and for what you choose to send. Do not send content you are not allowed to share.
10. AI output
Transcripts and summaries are generated by AI and can be wrong, incomplete or misattribute speakers. Check anything important before you rely on it. Do not use Dilo as the sole basis for legal, medical, financial or safety-critical decisions.
11. Statutory rights and warranty
Dilo is provided to you as digital content. If you are a consumer, you have the rights the law gives you if Dilo does not conform to what we promised, including under the EU Digital Content Directive (EU) 2019/770 as implemented in your country. Nothing in these terms limits those rights.
Subject to that, and for everyone else: Dilo and the free Basic plan are provided “as is” to the extent the law permits, and we do not promise that it will be uninterrupted or error free.
12. Liability
Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for intent, gross negligence, death or personal injury, or for consumer rights that cannot be waived. Otherwise, to the extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim relating to Dilo is limited to the amount you paid for it, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data stored on your Mac.
13. Ending the licence
You can stop using Dilo at any time by uninstalling it. We may terminate your licence if you seriously breach these terms (for example by sharing a licence key publicly), after notice where reasonable. Sections that by nature should survive, do.
14. Third-party software and open source
Dilo uses third-party software and models, some under licences that require attribution, for example speech models and libraries under the CC-BY-4.0 licence. The full list and licence texts are in the Open-source acknowledgements. Those licences apply to those components, not to Dilo as a whole.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms, for example when Dilo or the law changes. The date at the top shows the latest version. For material changes we will notify you in the app or on getdilo.co. Changes do not reduce the rights you already paid for.
16. Governing law and disputes
Estonian law governs these terms, except that if you are a consumer you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer law of the country where you live. The Harju County Court (Harju Maakohus) in Tallinn has jurisdiction, but as a consumer you may also bring a claim in the courts of your country of residence. The EU Online Dispute Resolution platform has been discontinued, but you can still contact your national consumer authority.
